Dinner at Yellow Fin Horse

An ongoing journey filled with the experimentation of basic, foundational cooking techniques and ingredients. Open-fire, ingredient-driven, seafood-centric—Yellow Fin Horse sets off bright, fresh flavours layered with a serving of smoke and fire.

THE STORY

Yellow Fin Horse can also be described a constant exploration of elemental cooking. Helmed by Chef Jun Wong, the kitchen team is dedicated to celebrating the art of crafting dishes from scratch, focusing on traditional methods such as open-flame cooking, curing, fermenting, and aging. Time serves as a key ingredient, enhancing their innovative approach that merges evolving cuisine and culture.

THE AMBIENCE

Yellow Fin Horse absolutely stands out in her design. The complete space is experimental, showcasing a bold mix of popping coral hues and subtle greens. These vibrant colours intertwine with a range of textures - wood, leather, velvet, marble, glass, and various metals - creating a truly unique and captivating interior aesthetic. You have the option to enjoy a more secluded dining experience at your personal experimental table, or you can opt to sit at the bar for a livelier atmosphere, allowing you to engage with fellow diners and catch a glimpse of the bustling kitchen activities.

THE MENU

Me and my husband indulged in a delightful array of dishes at the restaurant, savouring their signature longan sourdough with smoked house-made butter, perfectly crisp smokey potato chips, along with the zesty Jeow Mak Len Salsa crafted with succulent clams. The burnt orange scallop left a refreshing taste, yet we couldn't help but lament not trying their tantalising whole charcoal-grilled baby bass. To satisfy our sweet cravings, we concluded our diner with a slice of decadent Malaysian-origin chocolate cake & the cashew curd with honeycomb & burnt citrus fruits truly cast a spell on our taste buds.

AN EXPERIMENTAL EXPERIENCE

Another unforgettable shared dining experience in Else awaits you in downtown Kuala Lumpur. Delight in the innovative use of spices, fermentation processes, and unique smoking techniques that impart a distinctive flavor to their dishes. The dedicated kitchen team exudes passion, eagerly sharing their latest culinary innovations and experimental creations with every guest. We're already bubbling with excitement at the thought of returning to savour and experience their newest culinary creations.
